But - I have a dilemma. I possess the most frizzy, curly, unmanageable at the best of times hair. I can either use my straighteners to tame the beast and look groomed and sophisticated - or - I can use half a dozen products to boost the curl and give it shine to look less cave-woman like.
I've put the question out to my girly friends on Facebook and the battle is raging. What do you think I should do?

I'm a fellow unruly curls sufferer and yes I have a straightener and all the taming goop. But- which will your fans most easily recognize you as? How do you 'normally' look when dolled up, out and about? That's the look I'd go with. Personally I like your curls.
ReplyDeleteThank you Calisa! It does take a LOT of taming and product to like my curls too - but I suppose, they are me. I'm heading towards this thought too :)
DeleteHi LaVerne!! As a woman who has the straightest hair in all the land...hair that I can spend HOURS curling, spraying and fluffing, walk out the door and it will be stick straight, no body, wispy and limp...I say GO FOR THE CURLS, GIRL! But quite honestly, you are adorable either way. But go for the curls. I'm jealous...
ReplyDeleteOh, AJ. What I would give (especially during my younger years!) to have your hair! Sigh... we are never satisfied with what we have are we?
DeleteIn every photo I've seen of you, you always look so glam and groomed! When I straighten my locks, I get maybe three good days like that. Its so nice to wake in the morning and my hair's not sticking out every which way! Lots of water and product are the only things that will coax it down from its unruly position :)
I'm thinking curls too. You girls have convinced me :)
I know I'm against the trend here, but straight just looks so sophisticated :)
ReplyDeleteSacha my fellow curly-headed friend. Lovely to see you here! :)
ReplyDeleteStraight DOES look sophisticated doesn't it? But who are we kidding - I'm not ;)
You look beautiful either way, but what side of you is the real you. Straight and sophisticated. Or just a bit wild? My hair is wavy. Not straight. Not curly. But these days, I'm just glad to have hair. AFter chemo, it was very briefly curly and I loved it. Both my daughters have beautiful curly hair that looks great straight or curly. One is blonde. The other is a red head. But, I've always liked their hair best when it's curly. I think I like yours best curly too. It's like dress up hair. :-)
ReplyDeleteLilly - you're so lovely! And I'm probably as far from sophisticated as you can get :) I think I will embrace my wild side.
DeleteIt is so strange how chemo changes your hair. It doesn't always go back to how it was though does it? I bet you looked stunning with curly hair too :)
I'm probably coming in to this a bit late but I hope you kept your curls. think of giving a reading sometime, you rush, you're nervous (though I hope not!), you forget things and in the end you just haven't time to straighten your hair. You want to look in your photo the same as when your readers are going to see you. which I assume is surly...
ReplyDeleteOh! AD (Andrea is it?) That is hilarious!! I assume you meant curly - although I have been known to be surly at times - especially in the mornings before my first cup of coffee!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe photoshoot is tomorrow - and probably a good thing I'm taking the advise and going curly. There will be a fair amount of moisture in the air which will make my hair fight against the straighteners!
